POSITION

As a Software Engineer at Success Factory you will be responsible for planning, researching, designing, developing, testing and deploying bottom-up and top-down model web-based applications that support our customer base, affiliates and internal users.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Meeting with clients / management / colleagues to gather software requirements. * Collaborating with customers or affiliates via Collaboration tools. * Creating functional designs based on the requirements. * Determining technical needs & creating specifications based on functional designs. * Building, changing & maintaining MySQL databases. * Building, changing & maintaining PHP web applications. * Thoroughly testing to ensure successful software deployment, including regression testing.

* Think logically and be able to articulate thoughts in a clear, concise manner. * Communicate without any issues with business and the team. * Comfortably work both individually and as part of a group. * Take ownership of assignments and see them through to completion. * Know when to ask questions or ask for help. * Efficiently manage several concurrent assignments. * Quickly learn and adapt when dealing with unfamiliar systems and applications. * Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, managers and co-workers. * Meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner. * Be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done, including occasional overtime. * Display exceptional follow-through, personal drive and the desire to make a difference.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent. * Must be highly proficient with MS Windows. * Must have 2-3 years professional experience developing database-driven web applications. * Must have extensive knowledge of DBMS, specifically MySQL 5.0+. * Must have 2-3 years experience in designing and developing websites with PHP 4+. * Must have extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts. * Must be highly proficient with HTML, DHTML, XHTML, JavaScript (Ajax), CSS, XSL. * Must be comfortable using MS Office, notably Word & Excel. * Experience with any PHP Framework (Zend, CakePHP, Symfony) is a big plus. * Experience administering Linux & Apache is a plus. * Visual creativity (graphics, layout, design) is a plus. * Experience with web development technologies other than PHP/MySQL is a plus. * Experience with any Content Management System (CMS) is a plus. * Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) is a plus. * Experience with source control software & SDLC practices is a plus.
